A person has been airlifted to hospital after falling down a rock face near the Omanawa Falls.
A St John spokesperson says a person has suffered moderate injuries and they're being flown to Tauranga hospital.
Emergency services were advised at 1.40pm that a person had fallen down a rock face at the falls near the intersection of Omanawa Road and Bonnieglen Road, says a police spokesperson.
'A helicopter was dispatched in the area to assist.”
The person has been located and winched out, says the spokesperson.

This will be a regular occurrence the next few months - until the council close it properly or open up the safe pathway down
