UPDATE 5.39PM: A motorcyclist has sustained serious injuries following a crash in Tauranga.

A police spokesperson says they received a report of a collision between a vehicle and a motorcycle at the intersection of Courtney Road and Fraser Street about 4.30pm.

"One person has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

"I understand one lane is blocked but traffic is still flowing."

Traffic is reported to be delayed on Fraser Street in Tauranga.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there is a crash on the corner of Fraser Street and Courtney Road.

Traffic is backed up from the Merivale roundabout to past Baycroft Ave on both sides of the road.
