Two people are in police custody following a police chase involving a stolen vehicle in the Bay of Plenty.
Police received reports of a stolen vehicle at 4am.
A police spokesperson says officers found it shortly after but the driver failed to stop in Ohope and police pursued it along State Highway 30.
Police say the vehicle was spoke near Lake Matahina at 4.50am, with the chase ending in Murupara.
One person was taken into custody but the driver fled on foot, however, they were found about 6.05am.
