Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that road construction work will continue on State Highway 2 between Waihī and Ōmokoroa next week, with potential delays just north of Katikati.

Road reconstruction work is being undertaken between Tahawai Bridge and Willoughby Road from 7am – 7pm.

Periodic stop/go activities will be in place until Friday February 5 and a temporary speed limit of 30km/h applies through the site.

A written statement by Waka Kotahi says the periodic closure of one lane is required to carry out these works safely for their workers and road users.

These works are part of the Waihī to Ōmokoroa safety improvements project.

"Other works along this SH2 corridor include ongoing shoulder widening between Kauri Point Road and Lindemann Road, Sharp Road and Sargent Road and Wainui South Road and Esdaile Road.

"In addition to the project works mentioned above, there are also resurfacing works being undertaken at several locations on SH2 between Athenree Gorge and Te Puna as part of the Waka Kotahi summer maintenance programme."

Motorists are urged to plan ahead, take care and follow directions of traffic management staff.

"Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience."
