Police are responding to a serious crash involving a truck and a ute at the intersection of State Highway 30 and Shaw Road in Whakatane.
The crash happened around 3:35pm, says a police spokesperson.
Emergency services have yet to confirm any injuries.
SH30 is closed between Paroa Road and Keepa Road and the New Zealand Transport Agency is advising people to avoid the area or expect delays.

The following diversions are in place:
Westbound: SH30, left onto Mill Road, right onto Patuwai Road, right onto Paroa Road, left onto SH30
Eastbound: SH30, left onto Huna Road, straight onto Ferguson Road, right onto Keepa Road, left onto SH30
