One person has received moderate injuries following a single-vehicle collision on State Highway 2 near Aongatete.
Police were notified of the collision at 4.36pm.
It is understood that the northbound lane of SH2 near Aongatete is currently closed.

The authorities are very quiet on the fact that all the safety measures AND an unnecessary reduction in speed limit, has made bugger all difference on this stretch of road. How about putting the limit back up and let the competent drivers get from A to B in a sensible time.

@The Professor. I tend to agree. Lowering speed limits does achieve the goal of increasing govt revenue however. That's more important to politicians. "Lives" are just another buzzword for them to use in order to justify the changes without engaging with the community too much. (Because they would have too many battles from us all.)
