Car hits power pole in Mount Maunganui

A car has hit a power pole on Stawell Avenue in Mount Maunganui this morning.

A SunLive reader at the scene says a car hit the pole and Fire and Emergency were the first emergency service to attend.

The road is closed and police are also there, he says.

'It all seems fairly under control.”

A police spokesperson says there were no injuries in the single vehicle crash and fire are in attendance to support with traffic management in relation to the power pole.

It is unclear if power is out to homes in area, but another reader that lives on Crane Street says he has power.

'Power Co are on the scene now so we might lose power in a bit.”

The authorities need to do something about these power poles and trees which jump out in front of drivers. it should be easy, they are only in Tauranga and surrounds.
