A man is dead after being hit by a train in the Western Bay of Plenty.
Police have confirmed the man died after being hit by a train along the Te Puke Highway in Paengaroa.
"Police are making enquiries into the circumstances," says a police spokesperson.
"The track is closed.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and expect delays."
