Medical professionals treating a woman involved in a serious crash on State Highway 2, say it is 'nothing short of a miracle” that she managed to survive.

The woman was seriously injured in a crash involving a motorbike and ute on SH2, near Otamarakau, on Monday.

Emergency services were called to the crash around 3pm.

The woman was flown to hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

A family member says she is 'on the path to recovery”.

'She broke her right arm between her shoulder and elbow. She has a moderate burn from the exhaust pipe on her right foot.

'She has had CT scans and is clear of any brain injury,” says the family member who has asked not to be named.

'The accident was very serious and all doctors and nurses said it's nothing short of a miracle that she managed to survive the accident.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
