We Run The Night takes to the streets of Mount Maunganui this evening as runners compete in what is billed as 'a running festival like no other'.

Taking in the best of Mount Maunganui, but by moonlight at night, the course is all on roads and is flat and fast.

Distances include a 21km half marathon, 10km and 5km options and all races start at 6pm.

The event was due to be held on Saturday March 13, however organisers had to reschedule to the backup date of May 15.

All awards are awarded at the prize-giving which will take place at 9pm at Mount Drury.

​To help support safe event operations there will be a full road closure in place from 5pm to 10pm tonight along Marine Parade.

Marine Parade from Commons Avenue to Tweed Street may open earlier depending on the progress of the event.
