UPDATE 8.50AM: State Highway 24, between Tauranga and Matamata, is now open.
The road was closed earlier this morning following a serious crash.
A police spokesperson says three vehicles were reported to have been involved in the crash.
While the road is now open, Waka Kotahi Transport Agency is advising people to drive with caution in the area.
UPDATE 8.22AM: Three vehicles are reported to have been involved in a serious crash on State Highway 24.
Emergency services were called to the crash on SH24, also known as Tauranga Road, at 7.15am.
The highway is closed between Te Poi Road and Stopford Road.
"It looks like one person has been seriously injured," says police.
"Towing has been requested for at least one vehicle.
"The road is blocked and motorists are asked to follow the diversions."

State Highway 24, also known as Tauranga Road, is closed following a serious crash.
Waka Kotahi Transport Agency says the road is closed between Te Poi Road and Stopford Road.
"Delay your journey or expect delays."
Diversions are as follows:
Westbound traffic use SH29 to SH27 (Hinuera), turn right to Matamata. Eastbound use Te Poi Rd to SH29, turn left to Tauranga.
