Covid-19: 129 new community cases

A total of 129 new Covid-19 community cases are being reported today.

The Ministry of Health says 120 are in the Auckland region, and nine are in the Waikato.

As at 9am today, 64 of these cases are linked, of whom 25 are household contacts, and 65 remain unlinked with investigations continuing to help determine their connection to the current outbreak. 

Five Covid cases have also been identified at the border.

In a statement released this afternoon, the MOH says today's cases brings the total number to 2,389 in the current community outbreak.

The Ministry reports that 51 people are in hospital with the virus. Eight are in North Shore Hospital, 18 are in Middlemore, 24 are in Auckland and one is in Waikato Hospital.

There are five people are in ICU or HDU.
