SH25 reopens after crash

UPDATE 6:05pm: State Highway 25 is now reopen following a crash today.

State Highway 25 near Waitakaruru was closed following an earlier serious crash involving two vehicles.

A police spokesperson says the crash was reported to Police at around 1pm.

"Four people received serious injuries," they say.

"The Serious Crash Unit has been in attendance and enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.

"Police would like to thank motorists for their understanding while emergency services were at the scene."

Earlier: A serious crash is being reporting on State Highway 25, between Waitakaruru and Kopu.

A police spokesperson says emergency services are responding to a two-vehicle crash on SH25, Waitakaruru.

"Four people are reported to have serious injuries."

Waka Kotahi Transport Agency says due to a crash between Canal East Rd and Pouarua Rd N, the road is blocked.

"Motorists are advised to expect delays and to avoid the area."

NZTA says the road is closed and diversions are in place.

The diversions are as follows: Eastbound traffic remain on SH2 towards Ngatea and turn left onto Pipiroa Rd back to SH25. Westbound traffic detour from SH25 onto Pipiroa Rd towards Ngatea, turn right onto SH2 towards Mangatarata and remain on SH2.
