Three people have died in two crashes in the Waikato today.

Emergency services were called to the crash on State Higwhay 26 at Eureka earlier today.

A police spokesperson confirms two people have died following this crash.

"A further three people were injured in the three-vehicle crash, one seriously and two moderately," says a police spokesperson.

"SH26 remains closed at the intersection with Hinton Road.

"Motorists are asked to continue following the diversions in place."

Police have also confirmed that one person has died following a serious crash at Waitoa earlier today.

"The crash involving a car and a truck occurred at around 4:10pm on Waihekau Road.

"Waihekau Road remains closed near the intersection of Seddon Road and Chudleigh Road.

"Police contiune to ask motorists to avoid the area if possible."
