Mainly settled weather ahead for New Zealand

WeatherWatch is forecasting that an anticyclone is bringing mainly settled weather to most of New Zealand today.

"However there are a few showers in the northeast - East Cape up through to Northland - and along the West coast of the South Island," says a WeatherWatch spokesperson.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud with the odd shower Coromandel northwards, especially in the east. Easterly winds. Waikato and Bay Of Plenty has mainly sunny weather with any early mist or fog breaking away.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, a cold start about the Central Plateau. Morning fog or mist possible then breaking away. Light winds.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny weather, morning mist or fog possible for inland Hawkes Bay / Wairarapa, Hawkes Bay may have some cloud at times during the day, northeasterly winds. Gisborne has the odd shower with winds coming in a little more directly from the east.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington
Sunny weather, light winds then northerlies.
Highs: 16-18

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, afternoon northerly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Canterbury
Sunny with northerlies inland, northeasterlies across the plains.
Highs: 15-18

West Coast
Partly cloudy, a little cloudier south of Greymouth with the odd shower. Buller especially inland has morning fog then mostly sunny. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago
Mainly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light north to northeasterly winds, perhaps a touch breezier for coastal Otago.
Highs: 17-20
