A person with serious injuries from a car crash, a girl who collapsed at the Kaituna Cut and a serious cardiac event kept the Tauranga TECT Rescue Helicopter busy over the weekend.

On Saturday, the TECT Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the Kaituna Cut for a girl who had collapsed, says a spokesperson for the rescue chopper.

“The patient was treated and transported to Tauranga Hospital for further care.”

The TECT Rescue Helicopter was later tasked to Edgecumbe for a man in his 50's who had suffered from a serious cardiac event.

“He was flown to Waikato Hospital for further treatment.”

On Sunday, the TECT Rescue Helicopter responded to a motor vehicle accident in Opotiki, where a woman in her 20's had sustained serious injuries.

“The patient was flown to Tauranga Hospital in serious condition.”

SH35 was closed between Elliot St and Gow Rd for several hours following the crash.

Emergency services were called to the crash at 12.25am and the road was re-opened at 4.50am.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
