Tauranga police car set on fire overnight

One person is facing charges over a police car fire overnight.

The police car was set on fire outside the Tauranga Police Station on Monmouth Street, Tauranga.

According to a police spokesperson, the fire was started on Monday, October 17 at "about 10pm".

"The vehicle received extensive damage," says the police spokesperson.

The damaged vehicle sparked a reminder of a similar Pāpāmoa police car fire in 2019.

"A male in his 20s was arrested and will appear in the Tauranga District Court today."

It is really sad that there are still people who feel that way. Consider what the alternative would be... and be thankful that we have a very high quality Police Force in this country.
