UPDATE 5.51pm: One person has been taken into custody after brandishing an imitation firearm in Ōmokoroa.

This comes as police were responding to "reports of gunshots" at about 5.30pm.

"The man will be processed in due course," says a police spokesperson.

"No one has been injured during the incident.

EARLIER 5.43pm: Police are responding to a report of a man discharging a firearm in Omokoroa Road.

The gunshots were reported around 5.30pm.

"A firearm has not been sighted at this time and staff are working to locate those involved."
