A truck driver has escaped serious injury after his vehicle rolled on State Highway 1, near Tirau, this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash scene, just south of the intersection with State Highway 5, at around 8am.

'Power lines were touching the truck and the driver remained in the truck until the lines were clear,” says a statement from police.

'Diversions are now in place in order to clear the scene.”

Traffic is being diverted onto SH28, and onto SH5.

'The driver of the truck is not seriously injured.”
