School raises $9595 in quake relief

Face painting, food stalls, water bomb throwing and slippery slides were just some of the attractions used by students from Otumoetai Intermediate on Wednesday to fundraise more than $6000 for Christchurch intermediate schools.

The school shut down from 11am to 1.30pm to allow students to hold the gala which they planned over the past week.

Other activities included laser tag, a car wash, a mini putt course, buskers and mini stock cars.

Friends and families of the children as well as members of the community attended the gala day and together managed to fundraise $6400.

This, combined with the $3195 raised from the school's mufti day, made $9595 fundraised in total by the school.

It is being donated to intermediate schools in Christchurch which are badly affected by the February 22 earthquake.
