Meanwhile, Whakatane Police are also appealing to the public for information on some suspicious activity involving two vehicles.

The first is a 2006 Mazda Bounty, dual cab utility.

Senior Sergeant Yvonne Parker says the vehicle, with the registration number DJG21, was taken while parked near the Warehouse in Whakatane on Monday, May 9, between 4pm and 5pm.

'If anyone saw anything suspicious can they please call their nearest Police station and refer to file 160509/2391.”

The second incident involved someone tampering with the ignition barrel of a blue Toyota Hilux.

Yvonne says this vehicle was not stole, but she believes the two events are related.
