Bay man named in murder case

Interim name suppression of a Bay of Plenty man accused of shooting dead another man in Papakura in March has been lifted.

Isaac Cruz Eru Broughton was excused from attending the High Court in Auckland this morning where his case was called and Justice Lang removed name suppression.

The 28-year-old is accused of murdering father of four, Shon Tyson Wanahi, 26, near the Papakura train station in March.

He is also charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent to another man.

Media reports say his lawyer David Niven says there are no grounds for the court to continue name suppression.

Shon Tyson Wanahi, 26, was one of two men shot on Railway St, outside the Papakura Railway Station in the early hours of March 12.

Shon was taken to Middlemore Hospital but was pronounced dead.

Bunji Fenton, 27, who was shot in the arm, was taken to hospital in a serious condition and was stabilised by medical staff.
