The man charged with murder following the death of a Tauranga baby has been given name suppression after appearing in the High Court in Tauranga this morning.
The accused faces a charge of murder after a police investigation into the death of three-month-old Richard Royal Arif Te Kakahi Winiata Uddin.

He is also facing seven additional charges of assault on a child.
In court today, Judge Thomas Ingram issued a suppression order in relation to the case.
A homicide investigation was launched following Richard's death on June 7.
The baby boy was taken to Tauranga Hospital for treatment, but died.
The man accused of his death will next appear in the High Court in Tauranga on July 20.

If society wishes to prevent these horrible crimes, why does the court allow name suppression. Even though the accused has not entered any plea at this time, to be accused by the law, should not give the accused any right to remain anonymous.

You lost all right to anonynomity when you killed the baby. If you wanted to be not known by anyone you should not have committed such a heinous crime. Compulsory sterilisation for people who do this, both men and women.

Will this alleged scumbag be represented by some highly paid legal aid lawyer? A lot of care obviously went into naming this child. It's a tragedy that his life ended in such a dreadful and unimaginable way.
