A quick trip to Hamilton has ended with a Tauranga driver's car being gutted by fire.
The driver, who didn't want to be identified, told SunLive he was heading to Hamilton on Takitimu Drive, when smoke came billowing out of the dashboard.

The incident happen this afternoon about 3.10pm on Taktimu Drive and the New Zealand Fire Service were called to the scene to put the fire out. No one was injured in the incident.
A reporter at the scene says the silver Nissan station wagon had been completely gutted and the fire service were dampening out any hotspots.
The owner of the car says he has owned the car for five years and it 'was a good car until now”.
Traffic around the scene was minimal with police using cones and directing traffic to stop any congestion.
