For Gods sake, please do not allow yet another booze outlet in Tauranga. We have more than enough. What is it that seems to attract Indians to this type of business. I am sure that I speak for the majority when I say Enough is enough, no more.

A bottle store right opposite the movie theatres and next to Subway. If the District Licensing Committee grants the licence their credibility will be in tatters. Couldnt agree more with the other opinions against such an outlet.

Totally Agree

with the comments .Why the hell do we need this type of outlet in the CBD we have one in Harrington Street plus 11th Ave Is this part of TCC,s strategy to enhance people to come to the CBD I hope not.NO way should be approved.

Re liquor store

I definitely feel it would be a huge mistake putting a liquor store in close proximity to the movies and subway. There will be a certain element that would frequent this area not to mention beggars and homeless, and possibly the potential for a criminal activity. It is too close to the town center. Surely there has to be better utilization of the building.

nanny nonsense comments

I can't believe we live in a free country reading some of the comments. Does everything need to be regulated for idiots who can't handle booze? Either ban alcohol completely or accept that it doesn't actually matter which location it's bought.

We must obey . . .

Agree with all comments, however the powers that be have strict guidelines, e.g. proximity to schools, other outlets etc. I am sure that the person applying has done their homework. Sadly, if all requirements are met they will get the thumbs up.

I suggest you ponder the true meaning of 'freedom' and how one's right to freedom can impinge on the rights of others.

Liquor Store

NO MORE!!!! there are enough around now. (edited) With with all the drunken carnage around at present another is not needed. think of a more inventive way a food outlet, grocery store or even a nice icecream shop or even a coffee bar. I agree with Enough is enough. The emergency dept at the hospital has enough to do dealing with the drunks, druggies and in my opinion if it is self inflicted the culprits should pay for their medical treatment and not rely on the taxpayer.

Plenty of places

to eat in Tauranga just like theres plenty of places to buy alcohol and what about the other empty shops in the city,a huge over haul is over due if you ask me..............

SORRY,

By Tyraone, By energiser888bunny, By Taffy, By penguin, By whatsinaname, By peecee09, By Hot stuff. So long as the applicant meets all of the legal requirements of opening a Liquor outlet, the so called District Licensing Committee has a big problem in declining the application. Anyway, having been to the "pictures" and deciding that I want a couple of "subways", why should I not be able to grab a six pack for me and a bottle of wine for her indoors, and head HOME for a feed and a beer/wine ???

Say No

Approval by Council would be another nail in the coffin for the CBD, attracting the wrong sort of people. A good reason to stay away from downtown.

Are you serious

What would the council be thinking allowing this. our kids don't need this when visiting the movies and not to mention the slum look this will bring. Might work in other places but not here in Tauranga nz

say NO

to many kids hang around Elizabeth Street going to movies etc plus it is in main shopping centre of the CBD. If need to buy alcohol there is a bottle shop down Harrington street and another 6th ave and Cameron surely that enough for that area of town.

COMEDY OF ERRORS

Posted on 22-09-2016 21:43 | By ROCCO

THROW IT OUT THE LOCATION IS BAD & PLENTY OF THESE BOOZE BARNS IN AREA ALREADY> LMFO

NO MORE!!

Posted on 24-09-2016 08:58 | By flyingtoaster

The Police have put up cameras all around town, mainly due to the havoc drunk people cause. Cmon people another liquour outlet really?? seems to me that this is further compounding a problem that is already significant enough to cost us taxpayers for the cameras and monitoring staff. Another outlet is a bad decision for the CBD and for taxpayers.

@The Caveman

I can see your logic, but I wonder how many liquour outlets you drive past, on your way home from the movies?

ENOUGH

Posted on 05-10-2016 09:51 | By redwood

How many more places do we need fueling alcohol related problems. This is CBD, lots of foot traffic.. if you want to drink go to a pub, where its in a controlled setting, or go on your way home to supermarket/liquor store.
