Police are appealing for any information that will help locate an elderly Hamilton woman who's been missing for more than a week.

Joan Gringley, 68, was last seen by staff of the Hamilton rest home where she lives on Tuesday, October 11. She had told staff she was going out and would return on October 13-14.

Police say Joan has not been seen since and may have travelled outside of Hamilton and the wider Waikato District.

'It is not uncommon for the 68-year-old to return later than expected, but she has never been gone this long before and Police are concerned for her safety.”

Joan is described as European, about 168cm tall and of stocky build. It is not known what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance, but her outfits usually include a bonnet or headscarf.

Anyone who knows where Joan Gringley is or believes they may have seen her please contact Hamilton Police on 07 858 6200.

Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
