If you're eating and don't have a cast iron stomach but curiosity is getting the better of you - then you may want to pause for a minute.

A video sent in to SunLive shows a flock of seagulls feasting on what appears to be butchered cow carcasses left uncovered on the back of a ute parked outside Pak n Save Tauranga on Thursday.

'The ute had parked beside me while I was inside Pak n Save. When I came out I found all these seagulls and lots of people milling around as well,” says the woman, who's asked not to be named.

'The smell was really strong and meat dropped by the seagulls was going all over the car park. It was a pretty graphic sight.”

Moments later the owner of the ute appeared, escorted by a security guard who'd managed to track him down inside the supermarket.

'The owner seemed a bit surprised and puzzled by all the people hanging around his ute, watching what was going on. The security guy then directed to him to do something about it, so the owner covered it up with a tarp.

'It was an unusual sight for sure.”
