Its very disconcerting that the teens are getting away with things like assault, all because of their age. Assault is assault nomatter which way you slice it - someone ends up hurt or worse. This whole restorative justice thing is a load of nonsense. We should show our teenagers that there are repercussions to your actions.

Name and Shame the tow rags and what about the parents ete.All we get is police called to a disorder how many police did it take if 2 had to be hospitalised. Hope the police dogs were set on them. I hope that they are going to be treated as adults as a serious crime because if kicking a police officer in the head does not consitute a serious crime don,t know what does. Lock them up until full court case ,No Bail.

If not now....

when is our judicial system going to be reformed to reflect the serious nature of the offending? These thugs have done what they've done because they have no consequences to fear, simple. We (in our soft apathy) are teaching these brainless morons that they can do what they like without worrying about what the outcome is for their victims or for themselves. Home detention? Give me a break!I hear the bleeding heart liberals that say that locking these thugs up does nothing to reform them? While I agree that reform is an ideal outcome - my primary concern is that the general, decent population is protected from their mindless violence - so, lock the spineless cowards up for as long as it takes and if that turns out to be forever, so be it. What I do know is that giving them home detention does not work!

here we go again
