Spark network still experiencing issues

UPDATED 3.25PM: Mobile services are still unavailable for many people, with Spark saying it will take some time for all mobile devices to re-register with the network.

1PM:

All Spark broadband services should now be fully restored following this morning's outage.

Spark advises as mobile services progressively restore following the outage, customers may still be experiencing intermittent and residual mobile connection issues.

This is related to the large volume of devices auto-registering back onto the Spark mobile network. This issue may also be impacting some Spark mobile customers who were not experiencing issues early this morning.

Spark spokesperson Richard Llewelyn says technical teams are working hard to completely restore mobile connectivity to all customers as soon as possible.

11.25AM:

Impacted Spark mobile and broadband services are now being progressively restored following this morning's outages.

Spark reports from approximately 9.15am there were widespread outages intermittently impacting some mobile and broadband services in locations around the country.

This impacted 263 of the approximately 1500 Spark mobile sites in New Zealand, those sites predominantly in the Auckland region. Broadband services were also impacted in other locations around the country.

Technical teams have been working hard on resolving the issues as a matter of urgency. The problem was identified as a hardware fault located in one of the core Spark network exchanges and a fix has been put in place.

Most impacted services restored immediately, and others are progressively self-restoring.

Should customers not see services return to normal, we recommend they restart their broadband modem or mobile device.

Spark spokesperson Richard Llewelyn apologises for the inconvenience caused.

10.20AM:

Spark have posted a notice to their Facebook page saying they are aware of outages in parts of New Zealand, and are working to resolve the issues.

10.05AM:

The Spark network appears to be down, with several people across the country reporting an inability to make calls, send texts, and access the internet.

Dozens of Spark customers have posted on the company's Facebook page, reporting problems.

Callers to their helpline are unable to get through, as the lines are jammed.

The Spark outage page currently claims ‘everything is running smoothly.'

Does Telecon ring a bell i cannot understand how anyone could use such a pitfall of a service
