Fairfax, NZME appeal blocked merger

Media companies Fairfax New Zealand and NZME are appealing the recent Commerce Commission decision blocking a bid to merge their businesses.

The companies announced the decision this morning saying the commission had made errors with facts and law.

The Commerce Commission declined the merger between the two media copmpanies on May 3.

In a decision released earlier this month, Chairman Dr Mark Berry says the merger would've resulted in one media outlet controlling nearly 90 per cent of New Zealand's print media market.

The ruling followed a year of lobbying and speculation concerning some of the country's largest media brands, including Stuff and the NZ Herald.

Proposed changes to Public Bus routes

Looking to the future in the BOP there is a proposal to change local bus routes, some for the better.But are you aware there is a good chance you could lose access to a bus in your area.
