A roadside arrest by armed police near Te Puke on Friday afternoon stopped traffic while the occupants of two cars were taken away by police.

Police say four people from two vehicles were apprehended, and three of them later charged with aggravated robbery.

One of the 20 year olds was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

They were due to appear in Tauranga District Court today.

'Their vehicles were stopped prior to them entering a built up area to reduce any disruption to the public and apprehend them as quickly possible,” says a police spokeswoman.

No one else is sought in relation to the incident and no one was injured, says the police media team.

With all the grief these boys/girls in blue get, and yet here they are putting their lives at risk for us. Potentially not getting to go home to their loved ones to protect us and put these scumbags where they belong. A big thanks to you all and your families it is appreciated by the majority. Keep putting up the good fight.

Good on you. Who would want the job eh. Make a mistake and there will be a media lynch mob down on you. Do something right and get a wall of silence. I reckon comments like yours will be widely appreciated by police, but they have to say it to themselves behind closed doors.
