This morning we have a frosty start to a fine day with cloud increasing towards the evening.

It's a four-clothing-and-one-windproof layer day, with a high of 14 and an overnight low of 9 degrees predicted.

This day in history in 1959 the Chinese gooseberry was given the new name kiwifruit. Introduced to NZ in 1904, kiwifruit is now cultivated worldwide.

Check out what's happening and enjoy some seaside scenery on our weather wrap video, filmed this morning on Mount Main beach.
