The Baykids OSCAR holiday programme is encouraging kids to get off their phones and join the team in some healthy competition these school holidays.

The holiday programme has been running for five years and now has six different centres with about 80 to 100 junior and senior pupils.

Baykids Oscar coordinator Jessika Nelson says the holiday programme has grown over the years and is a great way to get kids of the couch and away from their devices.

'The kids enjoy the competition and hanging out with mates their own age.”

Each day they have a different activity, such as, sporty carnival, pyjama party, treasure hunt, high ropes at TECT Park, Masterchef (Baykids' instant restaurant), performance day, acting skills, a fashion show, a disco and an emergency services day.

One of the newest activities for the school holiday programme is Snap Golf, which is an easy and fun program that teaches the game of golf to beginners.

'Snag golf is a great way to make what some may consider an elite sport an accessible sport to young people,” ASB Baypark programmes manager Simon Leach.

The holiday programme will continue for one more week of the school holidays from 8am to 5.30pm.

The Baykids OSCAR holiday programme runs every school holiday in the year and kids are welcome to attend the programme for one or two days, or the whole week.
