A Tauranga man is one of two people who were caught drink driving in the Whitianga area.

Police pulled the 57-year-old over on August 19.

When breath tested, he blew 357 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath. The limit is 250.

A day later, a 19-year-old Whitianga man was pulled over and blew 495 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath. Due to his age, legally he is not allowed any alcohol in his system while driving.

Sergeant Andrew Morrison says police also apprehended a 21-year-old woman for driving whilst forbidden and a 28-year-old man for driving whilst disqualified.

'Both will have a day in court and have had their cars impounded.”

Andrew says there is also a growing concern of parties and the offending taking place afterwards in the Whitianga area.

'There were a couple of parties in our area and an increase in offending afterwards, with a vehicle unlawfully taken, damage caused at a local park, damage caused on Buffalo Beach Road and people unlawfully on a Cook Drive premises.

'Any information in relation to this offending or any other offending would be appreciated.”
