Police are urging drivers to take caution following an earlier truck crash which has caused delays in the Coromandel.

'Drivers should be aware that there are long tailbacks on State Highway 25a – Kopu-Hikuai Rd, Coromandel,” says Police.

'The traffic is backed up many kilometres from the coast to Thames.

'It is expected that the long weekend traffic will take some time to clear.”

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE newsroom who is stuck in traffic says that a truck rolled on the road earlier today.

"No one appears to be injured and the truck has been removed from the road," says the caller.
