Greerton Sikh XI surge to the top

Greerton Sikh XI have surged to the top of the Western Bay of Plenty Reserve Grade First Round competition, after a seven wicket over Tauranga Boys' College.

Tauranga Boys' were bowled out for 118. Hunter Dickson was the best of the students batting attack with 36 runs, with Sunil Gaur doing plenty of damage with ball, as he claimed a five wicket haul.

Harkaran Singh top scored for the victors with 48 runs with Sunil Gaur backing up his bowling performance, posting an unbeaten 36.

Cadets moved into third place on the standings after a hard fought win against Te Puke. Max Delaney grabbed four wickets as Te Puke were removed for 177. Morgan Bidois anchored his side's narrow two wicket win, top scoring with 38, while Cam Riley returned bowling figures of four wickets for 23 runs.

Greerton moved up the standing after a good tussle with Aquinas College. Aquinas set their opponents a solid target after being removed for 208. Finn Dempsey and George Catto scored half centuries with Sean Crotty and Kyle Montgomery taking three wickets apiece. Vishal Mani was a rock at one end with an unbeaten 59, as Greerton got home with three wickets to spare.

Albion Singh XI won a low scoring encounter with Katikati. The Indian side bowled Katikati out for just 80 runs but had to work hard to take out a four wicket victory.

Joint B Grade competition leaders Wanderers and Mount Gold both suffered defeats, which allowed Cadets Punjab Warriors to move to the top of the standings. The Cadets bowlers dismissed Tauranga Boys' College for 139 before working their way to a five wicket victory.

Mount Green batsman Nathan Walker was in dynamic form against Albion, hammering a century as his team reached 241 for the loss of just two wickets. Albion made a valiant attempt for the win points on offer but were bowled out for 157, to hand Mount Green a solid win.

Greerton posted their second win of the season in emphatic style upsetting Mount Gold. Greerton birthday boy Jake Ryan, took two wickets and held two catches, as the Mount side were bowled out for 108. A hard fought 38 from Bobby Tagore took the visitors to Blake Park home to a six wicket triumph.

Grasshoppers lowered the colours of Wanderers at their home base at Gordon Spratt Reserve. The hosts were removed for 144, before the Hoppers worked their way past the target with two wickets in hand.
