Armed Police have put cordons in place in Papamoa.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says cordons are in place on Dickson Road and Papamoa Beach Road.
The caller says there are other police in the area and some of them are armed.
A police spokesperson has confirmed there is an operation taking place in the area at the moment.
"As it's an ongoing operation, I can't release any other information at this stage."
