Woman killed in Matamata crash

One person is dead and three others have been injured following a single vehicle crash near Matamata.

Emergency services were called to the crash on State Highway 27 around 2pm.

Two children who were travelling in the car are critically injured, reports Stuff.co.nz 

A man in the car is in a serious condition. 

The crash took place on SH27 near Pohlen Rd, between Matamata and Waharoa.

The car had left the road and crashed into a fence. 

"Police do not know yet how the crash happened but are working at the scene to establish the cause," says a post on the Waikato Police Facebook page.

"There has been a high number of deaths and serious injuries on our roads in 2017 and even this year, leaving a devastating impact on a number of families and communities." 


The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
