Fire and Emergency are responding to reports of a gas smell in Mount Maunganui.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Jill Higginson says crews have been unable to locate the cause of the gas smell.
They received reports of smell near Tawa Street and Puriri Street at 9.55am.
Tauranga City Council has been contacted to follow-up, says Jill.
A reporter at the scene says one appliance is present.
