Police have named the person found deceased in Lake Rotoma on Monday as Julie Kaipara, 50, of Kawerau.

Police were called to the scene at Otangiwai Point, just off State Highway 30, at 9.45am yesterday.

It came following a report of a vehicle in the water.

The Police National Dive Squad was notified and later attended the scene.

They recovered the body early yesterday evening whilst a car was also pulled from the water.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.

In a statement last night, police confirmed that further enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
