Road clear following SH29 tractor fire

People are advised to expect delays in the area.

UPDATE: 10.30am: Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says the tractor fire on SH29 near Hanga Road, Lower Kaimai has been cleared.

Motorists should no longer expect delays when travelling in the area.

Earlier 9.43am: A tractor fire has blocked SH29 Lower Kaimai, near Hanga Rd this morning.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Karen Larking says traffic management is still in place, and motorists should contiue to expect delays if travelling in the area.

"It was a tractor on fire, which was well involved upon our arrival," says Karen.

"We are now cooling down the hotspots and assisting with traffic control at the moment."

Earlier 8.40am: State Highway 29 is blocked as emergency services deal with a tractor fire.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency says "due to a tractor fire, lanes are blocked on SH29 near Hanga Rd in the Lower Kaimai".

"Pass the scene with care and be prepared for some delays."
