A truck fire is being reported in State Highway 2, near Papamoa.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there is a truck on fire on SH2, near Sandhurst Drive.

"Police and fire are at the scene and it looks like they might close the road."

A photo sent to SunLive shows smoke coming from the truck and traffic congestion in the area.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency reports that the truck fire is affecting the eastbound lane of SH2, between Baypark and Papamoa.

"Due to a truck fire the left eastbound lane is closed between the SH29A Link and Sandhurst Rd. Expect delays."
