A van has been completely destroyed in a fire in Tauranga.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters were called to the fire on Anzac Road in Gate Pa around 9.30am.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson says there were no injuries reported from the fire.

“The fire investigation inspectors are looking into the cause of the fire.”

According to a neighbour, who was walking, by everything happened too fast.

“A black smoke started coming from the car, suddenly a big flame came from inside, it was just seconds before the whole car was on fire.

“Thanks to the quick reaction of the firefighters, it was just this car that got burnt, because there were two more cars and the house so close.

“It was less than five minutes since the fire started that the fire truck arrived and extinguished it.”
