Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips says the B-train truck is well involved.

"It's a refrigerator type truck carrying frozen foods. The trailer was well involved.

"The driver has suffered burns to his hands and is being treated by St John paramedics."

Jaron believes the road is still open but asks motorists to drive carefully in the area as there is a lot of debris on the road.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Only if the was a closer fire attendance than Greeton this truck could have been saved .. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/1383791_10151616546901787_363745087_n.jpg

Poor accident management

I was travelling on this road and when came round the corner a guy was on the left-hand side and flagged me down but did not ask me to stop.He was on his phone.I was waiting for him to tell me what to do as I could see this truck ablaze on the side of the road. The car behind me passed and went on a head so I gathered it must of been ok, likewise the traffic from the other way was coming. I found it a very scary situation as sparks were flying out reaching my car. The traffic from the other side did not move over to give me room. I was relieved to get past. There was no-one on the other side stopping the traffic. In hindsight it could of been very serious if the truck exploded on us all!I drove slowly flashing my lights attraffic.Julia Sowerby
