Two people are being treated for smoke inhalation following a small fire breaking out in a bedroom of their Ngatai Rd home this afternoon.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Steve Smith says two fire appliances have attended the fire and volunteers crews are on their way.

A SunLive reporter at the scene says they saw black smoke drifting from the home on Ngatai Rd when they arrived.
