Luxury items at hospice auction

More than $13,000 in luxury accommodation, ski passes, art, beachfront mini-breaks and leisure activities will go under the hammer to raise money for Waipuna Hospice tomorrow.
Lyon O'Neale Arnold associate Kelly Cotter with ‘The Pots of Mijas' by Pauline Oellermann and ‘Mount's End' by Paul Oellermann which will be up for auction tomorrow.

Organised by four chapters of the Business Network Limited and supported by Tauranga law fire Lyon O'Neale Arnold and VIP Home Services, the auction will take place at the Harcourts Auction Rooms at 5.30pm.

Up for grabs is a two-day ski pass and Ohakune accommodation package valued at $970, use of a beachfront bach at Papamoa valued at $700 and a fishing charter for four at $600.

A framed photo of Mount Maunganui, boot camp package, restaurant vouchers, travel vouchers and two $900 chiropractic packages are also up for grabs.

Lyon O'Neale Arnold solicitor Kelly Cotter says it is hoped up to $7000 will be raised on the night.

'Waipuna Hospice is such a worthy cause and there are some fantastic auction items on offer. We hope people will dig deep and support what will be a fun evening,” he says.

As a firm that prides itself on supporting the Tauranga community, Lyon O'Neale Arnold didn't have to think twice about getting behind the cause, he adds.

'As a charitable organisation, the hospice needs to raise over $2.3 million this financial year to meet the shortfall between Government funding and its operating costs. Every little bit counts.”

Sheila Logan, of V.I.P. Services, says the level of support for the auction is 'simply amazing”.

'All the auction items have been donated by local businesses and individuals. There is a lot of love out there,” she says.

"I believe that hospice has touched the lives of most of us and, at some point in our futures, we may yet have it cross our paths again. I want to ensure that it will always be there to provide the help to those that are in need,” she adds.

The BNI Fundraising Auction for Waipuna Hospice is at the Harcourts Auction Rooms at 303 Cameron Rd tomorrow from 5.30pm – 7.30pm, including a live auction at 7pm.

Entry is by gold coin donation and Lyon O'Neale Arnold and V.I.P. Home Services will be providing complimentary refreshments.
