Former Bethlehem College student Nicky Adams is about to add another qualification to her impressive resume – a Certificate in Welding.
Nicky Adams with her creation, ‘Buck the Duck'.
Nicky is a graduate of Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture with a special interest in garden sculpture and now after attending the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic's welding programme she is ‘good to go' with some impressive new skills.
'My decision to study at the polytech was certainly the right one as an extension of what I had learnt at Lincoln – despite how odd it sounds,” says Nicky.
'I've created sculptures before and I was interested in the arts of welding and finding out how to manipulate metal together for sculptures.”
Developing her love for sculptures, Nicky created ‘Buck the Duck', a metal duck and class project, which she's giving to her parents as a thank you gift.
'I've really enjoyed making him and he's gained many admirers.”
Nicky's really pleased that she took the plunge and enrolled into the welding programme and is looking forward to the future.
'I've started up my own company – Nicky Landscape Architecture and Design and I'm happy to make anything to get my business going.”
