Attendant assaulted in armed robbery

A store attendant received minor injuries in a struggle during an aggravated robbery in Tauranga overnight.

Police were called to Quality Food and Spices on Cameron Road, opposite Tauranga Primary School, at 7.15pm, following reports of an aggravated robbery.

'A male offender entered a store on Cameron Road, near Fifth Avenue, and presented a blunt weapon,” says Detective Sergeant Darryl Brazier.

'He demanded money from the attendant and a struggle between the two ensued. The offender then left the premises.”

Darryl says the victim has received minor injuries and received medical treatment and support.

'It's yet to be established whether anything was taken.

'The offender was seen wearing dark clothing and a balaclava and fled the scene in a westerly direction on Cameron Road, away from the CBD.”
