A 57-year-old man arrested in Tauranga yesterday is one of two men police have charged with the 30-year-old murder of Chris Bush at the Red Fox Tavern.
The Tauranga man will appear in the Manukau District Court today.
A 58-year-old man has also been charged in Auckland today with murder and aggravated robbery.
He will appear in Manukau District Court next week with the date to be confirmed, says Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum.
Chris Bush was shot during a robbery at the Red Fox Tavern on October 24, 1987.
'Our investigation was reopened after new information was provided to police,” says Gary.
"Members of the community came forward with invaluable information which has gotten us to where we are today.
"I would like to thank Chris' family, they have been through every family's worst nightmare and throughout this time they have shown courage, strength and bravery.
"We hope these arrests can offer them some degree of comfort and closure," says Gary.
"These arrests have been a long-time coming and we hope this sends a message that Police will not give up on finding those responsible for crimes and holding them to account."
Police are unable to make any further comment while this matter is before the courts.

There is an old saying. There is a long road that has no bends in other words sooner or later the police will get you. A great outcome and closure for the Family just goes to show the Police never give up.
Awesome

The family must be relieved. Hopefully the crims never get out, they have had 30yrs more freedom than they should have.
Confident Gary

Wow, let's hope the statement is backed up by a guilty verdict and long sentence. I cannot imagine the evidence is forensic after 30 years and a tip off so I hope whatever you have is solid.
Who is it
