Transporter loses load on Hewletts Road

The car on its roof on Hewletts Road.

A transporter truck has lost part of its load at the intersection of Hewletts Road and Totara Street.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says a car transporter was turning around the corner when the cars on the back came off.

"They are wrecked cars and one of the cars was upside down in the middle of the intersection.

"One is a Holden Commodore."

A police spokesperson says they were called at 9.48am to reports of a car falling off a transporter truck onto the road.

"Fortunately, nobody was injured. The road was partially blocked but was cleared quickly."

Unsecured Load

Any professional truck driver would have tied this load down. Normal car transporters have the certified anchor points for transporting vehicles - this one has not - so all the cars should be tied down. I can see a BIG fine coming for this.

One less Commode...

You can't leave your car safely anywhere these days; that Commodore has been stripped of its tail lights and wheels already...

Always secure your load. Imagine it coming off near a school. Could have been nasty. But heyho, nobody squashed so not to worry, on to your next job.
